Does Delian Vault require an internet connection?
No. Delian Vault works entirely offline. It never connects to the internet — the network entitlements are set to false in the app binary. You can use it on a plane, in a basement, or in a rural newsroom with no signal.
Where does my data live?
All documents, users, and settings are encrypted with AES-256-GCM and stored on your Mac in the app's sandboxed Application Support folder. Nothing is ever transmitted off your device. There is no server, no account, and no way for us — or anyone else — to access your files.
What happens if I forget my password?
During setup, Delian Vault generates a 24-word recovery key. Store it somewhere physically safe. If you forget your password, the recovery key is the only way to regain access. Without it, the encryption is mathematically impossible to break — by design.
Is this suitable for legal and M&A work?

Can I use it across multiple Macs?
Yes. Export an encrypted .dvbak backup on one Mac, transfer the file to another, and restore it. The vault works on any Mac running macOS 14 or later. Family Sharing is also supported through the Mac App Store.
What about updates?

Is the app notarised and sandboxed by Apple?
Yes. Delian Vault is fully sandboxed, notarised by Apple, and distributed exclusively through the Mac App Store. It requests only the entitlements it needs. No network, no tracking, no telemetry.
